• Hi,

Thanks for the plug-in and for making it available. I installed it and have been able to get the Twitter Search Tracker to work when I search on a simple keyword, but when I try to get it to limit Tweets from within a certain area (in my case, NYC) it doesn’t work at all.

I’ve tried a couple different versions, even different cities, but haven’t be able to get any of these to work with the tracker:
    near:”nyc” within:15mi
    near:nyc within:15mi (no double-quotes around nyc)
    near:”new york city” within:15mi
    near:”boston” within:15mi

I was able to get these to work in Twitter, so I don’t believe it’s a simple Twitter syntax issue. Maybe something is getting broken between the tracker and Twitter.

Can you suggest what the problem might be?

    Thank you

I found the solution on the Twitter API page.

You have to use “geocode:” instead of “near:”. This also means that you need to find the lat and long for the location you want to target. There are plenty of online sources for this if you Google it.

    Example:
    geocode:40.718212,-73.958329,5mi
