Searchconsole Error 5xx and PageSpeed can’t check the site anymore

    Hi all,

    about 3 weeks ago I have installed the plugin and made some adjustments, so the site was fast and fully loaded and optical OK. During these adjustments I frequently checked the site with Google PageSpeed. The Plugin made really exact forecasts and the tweaking is really cool. At the End PageSpeed couldn’t process the site anymore. Either the progressbar loaded till death or after 80-90% it quits with an meaningless errormessage. But I didn’t care a lot – I didn’t have the PageSpeed, but the Site loaded completely and fast. It was all fine (I thought).

    Today I went to the Searchconsole and had 137 Errors (“5xx”) in the “Coverage”-Section (before that 0 Errors). BAM! I loaded the corresponded site – they loaded as expected, no Server-Error 500 or such. When I checked it via the SearchConsole’s Live-Test: Error 5xx it isn’t indexable. Then I switched off the Plugin and made the Live-Test again – all ok!

    We are kicked down in the SERPs, too or better: of course.

    What could that be?

    In the case of 5xx error, first of all it’s necessary to check error_log file for details about the server-side error. What error messages do you have there?

    I downloaded the Server-Log from 2019-12-18-2019-12-31 and there are many Error 500 for the googlebot. For me the informations in the logs are a bit mumbo-jumbo ?? What can I do with it? It seems that the Error occurs mainly for mobile Browsers:

    There should be a file (usually named “error_log”) that contain information about PHP errors. If you use a control panel to manage your website, somewhere there should be a link to download Error Log. Otherwise, try to found this file in the top level directory of your website directory (usually named “public_html”), or in the “logs” directory there, or something like that.

    Open PSN’s settings and set “HTML Parser” to “Use Fast simple HTML parser” (instead of current “Use libxml HTML parser”) in the Advanced tab.

    PS. This issue is known and fixed in currently developing PSN 0.10.0 version. I’ll try to backport changes to 0.9.x branch and release new version.

    Thank you Denis it works. PageSpeed can test the site and I will look at the error logs the next few days.
