    Hello,

great plugin. I like the template it uses to display its content.

I have a few questions. Essentially, I’d like to be able to replicate a UI like this one: https://www.gatesnotes.com/Books

Your plugin gives me enough that I can do something like that. My question is whether there is the ability to search for a book and its cover, author, etc… directly using its title, author or ISBN and so on and forth. I have used the “Now Reading” plugin and it used to be able to do that (though it appears to be broken right now)…

Also, is it possible to add, just like the link above, a little floater above the book to indicated, reviewed, reading, read, etc…?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Yes there is the option in the settings to include your Reading List items in your homepage “recent posts” section and in search results.

Unfortunately, at this point development is frozen on the plugin. My advice would be to make a “work type” with the tags you want to use. Then enable “show item type” in the settings and your tag will show up under the cover image. I believe that is the closest thing to what you want to do.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Just updated WP to version 4.0. Reading list didn’t know the difference and continues to work well.

I have an MS Access database of my book lib that I am going to move over, but has some fields not in reading list. If I can work it out, would I be in violation of anything to edit my copy to add the fields I need? It might take me some time since I am not at your level of PHP expertise but am self trained and would enjoy trying to make it work with my copy of your files as templates.

    Thanks much!

    Don

    Hello,

No worries about extending the plugin on your own. It is entirely open source.

Just remember that if you update the plugin to a new version you will lose any changes you made so be sure to keep a backup.

    Cheers,

    Mike
