    Hi,
I am using the Ajax search form and the result were displayed by Elementor template. When I leave the search form blank and click on SEARCH it shows me all pages but it should not show anything or display a message “empty string in search field” or so.
I tried all search forms given, with the same result. To check “Display an error for an empty search query” has no effect either.

Is there a fix for that problem?

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

Enabling the option “Display an error for an empty search query” should work for you.

If the option is not working for you then this can be due to plugin conflict on your site so please try temporarily deactivating all plugins except the Ivory Search plugin and see whether everything works fine, and then enable the plugins one by one to see which plugin is conflicting if any.

Also, this can be a theme issue used on your site so to confirm it just temporarily use the Twenty Twenty One theme on your site. If everything works fine then it’s your site theme issue.

    Best regards,

    Thanks for your reply.
After some reading I realised that this is the normal WP behaviour. Some testing with the standard twenty twenty x theme did not helped me either. Again, your switch had no effect.
Then I found a little script where I can block search for blank queries. And for Ajax search I switched of “return” for search.
    This works for me.

Awesome great to see you got that resolved.

Please advise if you have more questions.

    Have a fantastic day!
