Looking for a few customization options I haven’t been able to resolve.

    1. Search Results: Not for live search, but when someone types a keyword and clicks enter, URL is a sample search result. Is there a way to customize the appearance? I’d like to either:
      a) Change it to a three-wide tile setup similar to the products page.
      b) Reduce the image size so users don’t have to scroll as far.
      c) change what information is displayed on the post/ product results.
    2. Search Results displaying shortcode. If you view the search results of a product like in the link provided, shortcode is being displayed to the user rather than the function of the code. Examples are
View Product Information [icon name=”print” prefix=”fas”]
View Full Den Hartog Catalog [icon name=”print” prefix=”fas”]
Chemical Resistance Chart [icon name=”book” prefix=”fas”]
      [maxbutton id=”1″]
      [maxbutton id=”2″]
      [trustindex no-registration=google]

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @ontarioagra,

If you would like the Search Results page looks like the product page, then you will need to use the Search Block that is coming from the WooCommerce plugin, instead of using the Search element that is coming from Astra. However, if you prefer to use the default one that is coming from Astra, this doc should help you.

After you implement what I mentioned above, see if the shortcode will show the generated content, instead of showing the shortcode as a plain text.

    I hope it will help.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Hi @bsfherman,

Thanks for the reply. I’m not too worried about what is being displayed, more with how it is being displayed. Specifically the descriptions of any products on the results page are displaying shortcode rather than the buttons that the shortcode are meant to display. Additionally, it would be great if the image size for the results was smaller or there were two columns of results so that users didn’t have to scroll as far down the page.

If you can take a look at the sample URL you’ll see both challenges. https://www.ontarioagra.ca/?s=vertical&id=9262

    Thank you for your help.

If the search results page were structured like this default page listing all products that would be ideal. https://www.ontarioagra.ca/order-online/

    Hi @ontarioagra,

As I explained in my previous message. The Search Results page is displayed that way because you are using the default Astra Search element. The Search Results page will use the default Archive template.

In order to use the WooCommerce Archive template, you will need to use the WooCommerce Search Block or by adding the snippet available in the doc I shared previously. To be clear, when the WooCommerce Archive template is used, the page will looks like the Shop / Product Category page. Something that you would like to have.

Please try it first and let us know if this works well for you.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

@bsfherman I followed the steps in the video, and included the code in the functions.php file but the search results page still looked the same and still showed shortcode as plain text. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Hi @ontarioagra,

Where those shortcodes are coming from? A plugin? Maybe it is the default behavior, i.e, the shortcode will show as a plain text on Excerpt?

What if you try switch the theme to the default WooCommerce theme, Storefront. If you are seeing the same thing, then I would suggest you get in touch with the plugin author.

Please let us know how you go.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??
