Search Results Page

I recently installed the plugin on a site I am building. Works great from the autosuggest however I was surprised that when I submit my search and am taken to the search results page that the search results listed there are different. For example, if I create a custom search to feature a certain page at the top of the list – works fine in the autocomplete but not on the results page. Is this normal with this plugin or is there something wrong with my site?
