I have my product catalog set to display only categories and this is working good for the Shop page, but I want to change this for the search results, everything I search is displayed as categories and not as products.

I use Elementor and I’ve tried to create a separate template but it didn’t work (https://fibosearch.com/documentation/troubleshooting/the-search-results-page-created-in-elementor-doesnt-display-products/)

Is there any way to customize how to display the product search results?

Hey @angieperaza!

If you’re looking for recommendations on how to search by category only, I recommend our [Search Products Pro](https://woocommerce.com/products/search-products-pro/) or [Product Finder](https://woocommerce.com/products/product-finder/) extensions. There are other plugins you can find here on www.remarpro.com and I recommend giving that a look over. In the end, you’re going to need some code to get you there as it isn’t an option in default WooCommerce.

Hi @piratepenpen, thank you. But what I need is just to display the list of products that match with the search and not the list of categories.

Thank you for the screenshots! That was very helpful.

I tested this out for you on my site with “Shop page display” in the Product Catalog set to “Show categories”. And despite the Shop page only showing categories, my search results still showed products.

A key difference between my site and yours, however, is that mine is using the default Storefront theme. So, it looks like your issue may be theme-related. Specifically, you may want to check your theme’s archive-product.php, which is located in woocommerce/templates.

Hi @dcka, you’re right. I deactivated different plugins and the issue seems to be related to the Elementor template I’m using for products archive.

I’ll look for information about it or I’ll reach out Elementor’s support.
