  • Hi Josh,

The plugin does not change the order of results. It does not even alter the content to get highlights. It’s just javascript that finds and highlights the terms in the browser.

Is there any other plugin installed on your site that might alter search results?

Thanks Ravan, I don’t have any other search related plugins, just this one so I guess presumed it was related. Any thoughts on where else to look?

Can you test by disabling my plugin, to make sure? Maybe it’s on the browser side that this is happening…

Thanks – I just disabled your plugin – you are correct, same issue.

It happens on multiple computers/browsers so don’t think it is a browser thing. Sort of lost on ideas for this one.

    Since WordPress 3.7 :

Search has been changed to match results by relevance rather than date and search returns are now ordered in the following manner:

Full sentence matches in post title
All search terms in post titles
Any search terms in post titles
Full sentence matches in post content

If you want chronological search order, then either revert to WP 3.6 or look for any of the search plugins that would give you chronology as an option.

I have the feeling that these search-improvement plugins where originally made to do get away from chronologic results so none of them might have the reverse as an option… But I cannot advise you on that because I have no experience with any of them ??

Thanks Ravan – this is super helpful!
