Search results not showing with static front page

Hi guys

I have the site front page set to a static page (the Buddypress Activity page).

Now search isn’t working – if I submit from the search form, I get the front page (with search query appended i.e. https://www.site.com/?s=query&search=Search), not the search results page.

If I set the front page to show my latests posts (WP default), it works fine – just not when I change it to a static page.

Any ideas? Do I have to create a separate search results page? My theme (Razor) includes a custom search results layout that I’d want to hook up to this page. My coding skills are minimal so a dummy-proof solution would be great – otherwise I guess I’ll just dive in.
