    ISSUE:
When someone searches for a job on my site, the job postings show up on the search results, which is great. Unfortunately, none of the search results link to the job posting’s page. Clicking on a job in the search results takes you to my Home page (which obviously isn’t right). Is this a known issue? And is there a way to get the search results to link to the job posting?

    FOR EXAMPLE:
Go to https://www.erbi-bio.com and search for “engineer”.

    TECHNICAL DETAILS:

      WordPress version: 5.4.1
      Simple Job Board version: 2.8.0

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello Mike,

We have gone through the provided link and searched for the job. It is now showing the job detail page.

If you still facing the issue then please reset your permalinks in Dashboard> Settings> Permalinks and hit the save button.

Thank you for reaching us out. Let us know if your issue is resolved or not.

    Thanks for looking into this.

I have reset my permalinks, cleared my browser’s cache, and tried three different devices. Still, the search results are linking to the Home page, not the job detail page.

Are you searching for a job using the search tool?

Let me know if you can replicate the issue on your end.

Yes, we searched job using search tool. Sorry we are unable to replicate it.

It might be possible that your installed plugins or theme are conflicting with SJB. For testing purpose, please deactivate all of plugins except SJB, switch your theme to any Twenty theme and then see this issue. Let us know if the problem still persists.

I tried deactivating all my other plugins, and activating the Twenty Twenty theme. I also tried on a completely different site (on my development server) and it does the same thing there too.

If your team would like to hop on a screen share session with me, let me know.

    Hello Mike,

We searched the job and it is rendering to the home page now. And you are using your theme search not the plugin search. Why you are not using the plugin search?

Also, for resolving this issue ask your theme developer to look into this issue because this template and search rendering is the part of your theme.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve added the SJB search feature. However, that still doesn’t solve the primary issue… when you search for a job using the core WordPress search box, the search results do not link to the job details.

Out of curiosity, could you send me an example of a website that uses SJB plugin where the core WordPress search feature works correctly? Because at the moment I’m a bit skeptical that the issue isn’t with the SJB plugin itself.

Perhaps the issue is with my server settings, or something else I’ve overlooked? But the same problem occurs with all other plugins off, and with every theme I’ve tried, including the default themes that come with WordPress.

    Hello Mike,

Please check your theme default search template (search.php) that is responsible for WordPress search.

For further details, please ask your developer to assist you in the rectification of this issue.

    My theme doesn’t have a search.php file.

Please consult your theme developer to dig into the code and see this issue.

Thank you for writing to us.
