Search results displayed as links?

I’ve just implemented Raena’s search hack. If you take out the excerpt part (I use the_excerpt without RSS, btw, to keep Markdown styling), you get a list of links. I prefer it with excerpts:
Search for ‘blog’ on my blog
and use it as a site-wide 404 page (the French version doesn’t always work if you come from somewhere outside the blog directory:
this would normally give you a 404 ‘page not found’ error.

version 1.5.1.2 still doesn’t list search results as links but rather as whole posts/pages and that is extremely annoying.
