    Hi,

I need a search function so that visitors can get results for addresses in a certain city or the contact of a certain name. So I purchased the “Widget Pack” Extension but I can’t get it work.

When I use the simple search directory widget on a category page and enter a city, I’m linked to the main page with all categories instead of that I get all addresses of that city on that category page.

Than I tried the directory entries widget, that shows all listed names of that category page and when I click on a name I’m linked to the main page instead of that I get only that contact.

    Would you please help

    Best regards

    Bettina

It appears you might have the directory homepage option set to the firmen-a-z page. Please navigate to the Connections Settings admin page and set the Directory Homepage option to the gastronomie-lebensmittel page. This page must have the [connections] shortcode on it.

I hope this helps; please let me know.

    Hi Steve,

Yes I do have set the directory homepage option to “Firmen a-z”.

But setting it to “Gastronomie-Lebensmittel” wouldn’t solve my problem as I have 10 categories and I want to use the search function on each of those pages to find just the entry of the search term.

    For example:

I going to have 150 entries on the “Gastronomie-Lebensmittel” page and I’am searching for “company xy” than I want the search result for just that one entry.

Or I’m searching for companies in Vienna, than I want search results for all companies in Vienna on that page. That is the most needed feature.

    Best regards

RE: my problem as I have 10 categories and I want to use the search function on each of those pages

You should have a single page, the directory homepage, filtered by category and not create separate pages for each category. This way, the widgets will function as intended with the directory homepage.

You have a couple of ways to filter the directory by category. The first is to use the category permalink filter. You can find these on the Connections Categories admin page when you mouse over a category name. It is the View link. The view link is also based on the directory homepage.

The second option, the better for your use case, is a premium template, such as cMap; here’s a link:

With the user will be able to filter by the categories and then perform the searches you require.

    I hope this helps!
