Search not working

I’m new to this but am trying to help a friend add the WP search widget to her site. She’s using the Elementor plugin. I have successfully added the widget to her home page however when I type in a term such as “pancakes” I don’t get any results even though I know there are pages/posts with the term pancake on them. Also the search on the blog pages aren’t finding any results either. I feel like it’s something glaring at me but I need your help please. Thanks!
