    Hello:
I am having big difficulties to search my products inside the product page with the search box. I know it can find product titles but this is useless and very basic for me.
I sell images with IPTC metadata. I put this metadata in the TAGS section of my product and the search box inside WooCommerce Product is unable to find those tags.
How am I supposed to find and quickly change thousands of products (images) with such a simple tool that only searches for product titles.

I have installed Advanced Woo Search plugin and that one is a beast. It searches everything on the front end with lots of criteria, tags, description, etc …everything. works marvelous. But this one does not unfortunately take over the original WooCommerce search engine (I wish it did). So please improve the search engine inside the product page or let other plugins take over that faulty search, so we can search for our product at fast and quickly as our clients can with the front search engine advanced who plugin.

I wonder why WooCommerce has put such a limited way to search our own products. It might work if you have 20 or less but with hundreds or thousands……..or am I missing something here.

    Thank you for your support

  • Hi @mastix

    Thanks for reaching out!

But this one does not unfortunately take over the original WooCommerce search engine (I wish it did).

I understand that you are using the Advanced Woo Search plugin on your site, however, you mentioned that it does not take over the original WooCommerce search engine.

Would you be able to share any more details about the issue you’re experiencing with that? A step-by-step flow might help us identify any pain points.

If you could also share with us a clear screenshot of what you see on your end so that we could address you more effectively?

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, you can try https://snipboard.io or https://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Meanwhile, i’d like to understand your site properly, can you please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Yes, the Advanced Woo Search plugin can search anything in the frontend but unfortunately it cannot power the backend where the regular search engine inside the product tab can search for title and description and that’s it. A very simple, inefficient search engine that is worth nothing in my case because it cannot even search in WooCommerce product tags.

That’s the problem in general of WooCommerce . It strips basic functionality everywhere so you are dependent on expensive plugins in an exact replica like Shopify. Unfortunately this is not what WP should be, but slowly WooCommerce is transforming itself into another Shopify where not by direct payment but because of dependence on plugins that they have and you need to operate the site you are basically doing the same as Shopify.
Sad, but this is the way it is.

    Hi @mastix

I understand that the Advanced Woo Search plugin is only effective when searching products in the front-end and not at the back-end of your site.

unfortunately it cannot power the backend where the regular search engine inside the product tab can search for title and description and that’s it.

You are correct that the search bar located in the Products menu can only search for the product title and description:

If you are searching for product tags, please go to Products > Tags instead. From there, you could click the on column Count to know which products belong to this tag.

We hear you! If you believe that this is a bug or should be added as an enhancement of the product, please feel free to post it to the proper Github repository here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce so that our developers could take a look of your concern properly.

    Hope this helps!
