Hi, I wasn’t sure how or where or who to ask about this, so if this isn’t the appropriate venue, I apologize. I also wasn’t sure if this is a support question or not, so I didn’t check the box for “not a support question.”

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve noticed Cleantalk has been reporting search form submissions as spam (or approving them). I’ve only had the plugin since March, but this is the first I’ve seen search form submissions reported in the daily log, and I’m not sure what to think. Most of them list IPs that have never been reported as spam, and the submissions also appear relevant to my site, like book titles and author names. So I’m confused. Is Cleantalk supposed to be monitoring search form submissions? Is anyone else suddenly having lots of them listed in the daily log? Can you even get spammed via search box entries? Should I mark them as spam or not spam?

Thanks for any help you can give me. If you need a screenshot as an example, please tell me how to insert a picture into this message box, if it’s possible.

    Hello, @dnstockdale.

Please, copy-paste your question here in our private Ticket System:

WordPess.org Support Forum is for plugins only, not the service.

I tried to contact Cleantalk directly to begin with, but when I clicked on the “open a support ticket” button on this page–https://cleantalk.org/my/support–it brought me here to the forum. If that’s not what’s supposed to happen, someone should look into fixing that link. Maybe, just maybe, you wouldn’t have to redirect people as often.

Regarding filtering spam in website search forms, yes, the CleanTalk system does that.

Details how it works are described here:
    https://blog.cleantalk.org/how-to-protect-website-search-from-spambots/

There are two different links on the support page of your CleanTalk profile. I gave you the right one.

That blog post is a lot of Greek, but thank you for providing it, you answered my question in part at least. I’ll just have to find time to do some research and try to teach myself what any of that means.

And yes, you gave me the correct link, and I submitted a ticket with Cleantalk. Thank you. I didn’t mean your link wasn’t correct, I meant the button link on the Cleantalk support page must be wrong. It says it’ll open a ticket, but instead it takes one here to the forum. If it had opened the ticket page like it’s supposed to, I wouldn’t have come here at all. I mentioned the confusion to them in the ticket I submitted.

    Thank you for your assistance.
