    Hi,
Please advise how to fix this problem.
I used hello theme WP version 5.8

If you try to search ex “kids sand art kits” it doesn’t come up ,though it’s a product in my shop.

    Other results would be inappropriate
    Thanks

Product titles and descriptions are searched, not category names. Search terms are logically ANDed, more terms == more restrictive. While you have a category called “kids sand art kits”, there are no products with all 4 words in title or description. “sand art kit” returns products because all words are in several titles. None of them contain “kids” in title or description.

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply.I don’t think this is the problem, because when I searched kits, the result was info from shipping page, video page, home page.

How about adding search function using plugins instead of widget? I think I have to deactivate the widget first, right?

Especially I wanted live autocomplete search function. By searching I found this plugin which offers that feature “Live Ajax Search plugin” the problem it’s not compatible with version 5.8

Well, “kit” does appear in those page’s content. A similar but different issue is at play. The search is ranging beyond products to posts and/or pages. Search could be restricted to products only with a bit of custom code, but it’s not going to get you auto-complete.

Whether you’d need to remove the search widget depends on how the plugin operates. Some extend the default search, others replace it entirely. You can use the same widget on the former, not the latter. The plugin’s installation instructions should indicate what to do.

While it may not be confirmed to work on 5.8, some plugins will work just fine all the same. It’d be at your own risk, but you could try it out anyway. To be sure it works OK, define WP_DEBUG as true in wp-config.php. If no error messages appear on screen or in the browser console with the plugin active and in use, it’s reasonable to continue using it. Restore WP_DEBUG to false when you’re done testing.
