We have over 500 documents on this site and would like to use the search feature. What it pulls up is ugly. The document names it pulls up are spaced far apart. Above the name is a space that acts like a link. When I click on it, the document appears. But we should be able to see something about the document on the search page. I did discover that we can write something about the document that will help us select the correct one. But why is there a blank space above the name? I don’t see a way to attach a file, or I would show you what I mean.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This is what I get when I search for medication: https://library.countrysidevillageretire.com/?s=medication

    Hi @cheryls

    Thank you for your query.

Can you please provide us with some related screenshots so that we can understand the issue correctly as your shared URL is showing like this: https://prnt.sc/g2S61IeyjXjY

When I do a search for medication, I get this display: https://prnt.sc/_E7Dm40koqnW (this is just one result, it repeats depending on how many results are found)

If I click on the area above the title of the document (pdf), it opens up to display this: https://prnt.sc/7sIe24f7rR0B

I did discover how to write content that shows below the title of the document. I’d rather have a list of the documents without so much space above. I assume it’s designed to display a picture, but there isn’t a picture with pdf’s.

    Hi @cheryls

    Thank you for the details.

Can you please clear your site cache?

Also, there can be a conflict with another plugin. Can you please enable/disable other plugins for checking?

You may also switch the theme to another for checking; please let me know then.

I cleared the cache as you suggested, and there is no change.
I deactivated all the plugins and reactivated them one by one. I discovered two issues.

    1. DMS Custom Re-ordering, which is “An interface to re-order categories and files in a unified view.” throws an error that overrides everything and I have to go into the server to rename it and thus deactivate it. It then says the plugin doesn’t exist. I reached out to the author.

    2. When I activate Download Manager, it puts the content that’s in the main column into the sidebar and it stretches it.

Update: Download Manager needed to be activated in order for DMS Custom Re-ordering to work. Everything is back to the way it was before I deactivated the plugins.

Bottom line: your suggestions didn’t work. What now?

    Hello @cheryls

    Thank you for your reply.

We might need to check the issue in depth then.

Please open a support thread in our support forum.

You’ve been previously advised not to ask for admin access to user sites. I hope this ask is not a way to go around that and not ask for admin here. Please clarify.

    Hello @sterndata,
    Sorry for the confusion.
    @cheryls,
Your site is login protected, the url you shared redirecting us to login page, we have no way to check, please share us a public page if possible.
Also, the UI for search result page will depend on your active theme if you are using theme provided search option, however, wpdm also has a shortcode [wpdm_search_result], where the search result ui is controllable from wpdm using link template.

I’m not sure what happened to my earlier response.

I made the site public, so I’m hoping you can help me resolve this issue now. Without logging in, the search icon is gone. I did notice in the backend that there is a search feature that was set up, but it is hidden. The site was built with WP Bakery.

I am disappointed that I didn’t get further assistance with my issue.
