    Hello,

I am using GeoTheme Child Blank and WP 4.1.1 for our site. When I am in the admin side of life and am trying to do a search in the events (whether to check for duplicates or to see if event is listed) I type in the name to be searched and click the search button. All it does anymore is to bring me to the homepage of the site, literally!

I have read through several pages of the forum looking for answers, but didn’t see any issues such as this one. Someone please help as the search feature is important to us.

    Thanks,
    Janebo

What plugin are you using for the events management?

It’s not a plugin, it’s part of the theme itself.

Ok, as that is a commercial theme, we ask that you please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

I have contacted them. I was under the impression that the search feature was a part of WordPress admin itself as it is in every copy of it I have seen. I appreciated your trying to direct me to the support they have, but I am all too familiar with their system. Thanks for your time.

The search feature is part of WordPress, but as itself it only searches standard WordPress content (posts and pages).

If you have a custom content type, events in this case, the theme should be extending WordPress’s search feature to include those too.

So, either your theme is not extending WordPress’s search to cover its custom content types (in which case there’s nothing that can be done on the WordPress end to change that), or the theme’s extension of WordPress’s search is broken (in which case they would need to fix that).

So, it’s really all up to the theme developers that you paid money to.
