• Hi guys,
my problem: I’ve created custom titles and description for almost every page. It is visible on the homepage itself (www.exploryx.de), but not in search engines.
There only the post title is visible.

I’ve tried several settings, but nothing changed that. It used to work fine for months and changed some weeks ago.

I really need some help from you.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi mia_heim,

You have to give Google a little time to index your site completely. I checked Google SERPS and they are indexing a lot of your content just fine but there is still some content they haven’t indexed yet. It can take them weeks to index all your content. You can use Google Webmaster Tools to resubmit URLs that haven’t been indexed yet.

    Thanks for your fast answer.
I checked it in the webmaster tool, but nothing changed since then – do you really think, that it takes that long?
Maybe I’ve missed some settings, but I can’t figure out what…

    Hi mia_heim,

It looks like Google indexed some of your pages on August 28th and that’s when they picked up the new titles and descriptions for just the pages they indexed. If you want them to index the other content then I’d suggest resubmitting your site via Google Webmaster Tools, otherwise just wait until they crawl your entire site again. Just bear in mind you cannot force them to index your site.

Okay, then I’ll give them some time..

I was wondering again, because new google alerts are showing the wrong title as well…

So, after some months, still nothing has changed.

    Hi mia_heim,

I checked Google and for those pages it has reindexed in the last 3 months it’s either using the title tag that you set or it’s using the H1 tag. This seems to be correct behavior for Google now, we’ve noticed them using the H1 tag more and more for the title in SERPS. Either Google is testing this to see if it makes a difference in the way people use SERPS or it’s their new policy.

There’s nothing anyone can do about this. However, it should encourage website owners to think more about their H1 tags and it should make WordPress theme developers follow best practices for the use of H1 tags which have always been very important in SEO.
