• Hello,

My site was hacked and spammy content was added to existing pages as well as new pages created. It was a hack that only appeared to googlebots. When I or other internet users visited the site it appeared as normal but google saw it as a totally different weird Chinese site. I have cleaned up the my site best I can and Search Console now displays the home page correctly in the googlebot fetch and render but the pane that shows how a visitor would see my site still shows the Chinese site. This is only occurring on the home page, all other pages of my site now show the correct matching render for both googlebot and visitors.

    My site is located https://www.crystalconstruction.lk

Any thoughts on why this is happening would be much appreciated,
    Thanks in advance.

I’d assume that Google is just caching your results. I’ve seen that happen with my own sites there, takes a month or so for the front page previews to change.

I recommend contacting their support just to be sure: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/webmasters

Ok James, that is what I was hoping!

    Thanks for the advice.

    You’re welcome!

    Hey there b_boy02

How did you find their hack codes. The exact same has happened to me, but I have no idea how to find where they put the codes/ script/ html in my site?

Please help, would really appreciate it!

    Thanks a mill

    Hi Hayleigh,

So there were a bunch of php files added to my public folder that were activating redirects. There was a load of code in an existing php file too but can’t remember which off the top of my head. Will have a look tomorrow and see if I can remember. If you can look at another WordPress install you will see what php files should be in your public folder.

    Hi there Ben

Thank you so much this already helps! Luckily I had an old backup, so I will go back and look at those php files to see which ones are new and will also look at ones which may have been compromised.

If you remember which php file was compromised on your site, please give me a shout if you can, so I can just check the same php file in my file manager.

Really appreciate your reply and help!
    Thanks a mill
