• Hi Ernest,

    Your plugin is amazing, thank you so much. Can you please help me with 2 questions?

    I wanted to add the search box to the nav bar (after CONTACT) but couldn’t find a way to do that. So I added the short code to a text box and placed it over the carousel on my home page, but the white section of the search box where you type what you’re searching for hides the sub menues (under RESOURCES and SUPPLIES) in my navigation bar, so that won’t work.

    I can’t find an option in the Ajax settings to fix it so that the sub menus show through the white area. Then I tried making the search box 50% wide instead of 100% but that didn’t work either because the white area under the search box remains 100% even when the box is shortened to 50% and the sub menus remain hidden behind it.

    Is there a way to add the search box to my navigation bar? If not, how can I fix the white area of the box so that the sub menus on my navigation bar are visible?

    My web address is https://www.WalkingDoggies com. **I temporarily moved the search box to UNDER the carousel for now because the site is live and the sub menus have to be visible. Please let me know if you need me to move the search box to OVER the carousel so you can check it out.

    I appreciate any help you can give me.

    Thank you again,

  • Add this following custom css:

    div.asl_m.asl_w {
    z-index:auto;}

    You guys are amazing! Thanks for the great search and support.

    When I put the short-code in a text box under or over the carousel it appears the entire length of the carousel (left to right), which is way too long for a search box. If I shorten the dimensions it’s perfect on my home page but appears too small on the sidebar of my internal pages (About, Contact, etc.). So, unfortunately I can’t use the code you just suggested in your email.

    I added the short-code to a sticky post on my homepage and that’s where it is now and it looks great.

    But instead of my homepage I would love to have the search box on my navigation bar before the RESOURCES link. I was told go to menues and create a custom link. For the url enter anything, like #. For the label enter the Ajax shortcode, save the custom link and place it where I want in the menu.

    I put it before RESOURCES and it looked amazing on my laptop but it did not show up at all on the mobile version on my phone. There was an empty space on the mobile menu where the search link should be. Then I added the word SEARCH before the short-code and again it looked great on my laptop AND it did show up on my phone.

    But when I clicked the SEARCH link on the mobile version on my phone it brought me to a non-existent URL on my site. I looked at the URL and apparently the short-code added the latest search criteria to the end of the https://www.WalkingDoggies.com URL, creating a URL that doesn’t exist.

    I would love to have the search appear in my navigation bar but it has to work on the WordPress native mobile version. And when someone clicks SEARCH on their phone it should bring them right to the search box.

    Please let me know if this can happen. If not, I’ll keep it where it is now.

    Thanks again,
    Laura

    Hi Laura!

    I think the best option in this case is to leave it where it is now. Usually integrating custom shortcodes into menu positions can be quite challenging, as some menus use completely different layouts for different screen sizes/devices. In these cases the best solution is to directly enter the shortcode into the child theme files, via custom coding. Unless you can do that, or ask a developer for assistnace, I think the best option is to leave it as it is.

    Best,
    Ernest M.
