Search Appearance page cannot be loaded, gets a timeout

Can you confirm you are using WordPress 4.9.8 and Yoast SEO for WordPress 9.1? Please also do check if you have the needed requirements — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/plugin-requirements/

That sounds like it could be a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
2. Check for conflicts.
3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

Sorry I didn’t explain myself clearly. Yoast plugin does not cause the site to fail, I was talking about Yoast’s Search Appearance page not being able to load. It just loads forever. The url is this one: https://www.domain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_titles.

Also, wordpress and all the plugins are current. This page used to work, it only stopped working a few months ago.

We understand that the Yoast SEO plugin is not causing the site to not load, but rather that the search appearance page is not able to load. However, this may be due to a conflict with another plugin or theme. Can you please confirm whether the issue still occurs with only the Yoast SEO plugin and a default theme (such as twentyseventeen) active? I will find some time to test this. We’ve been using Yoast for 5 years already, and we only started getting this issue in the later versions. There were also no debug info from turning on wordpress debug.

With the troubleshooting plugin, please give us some time to test it, will report back. But yes, as of now the problem is still present.

Do the other SEO menu settings load just fine? Is it just the ‘Search Appearance’ menu that is not loading as expected? If there are JavaScript errors appearing in the browser’s console, it might indeed be due to Yoast SEO conflicting with another plugin or theme. We do recommend that you test for plugin or theme conflicts using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin as it will allow you do deactivate all of your non-Yoast SEO plugins and revert back to a default theme such as TwentySeventeen, and then you can test if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t, you can then begin to enable your plugins one by one until the conflict is identified.

Yeap, all the other menus load perfectly. Also there are no js errors at all in the console.

When I tried to enable Yoast under troubleshooting mode, here’s the error I got:

When enabling the plugin, wordpress-seo, a site failure occurred. Because of this the change was automatically reverted.

Hi, could it be that our posts have exceeded 70k, and our wp_postmeta has gotten too big? It has 28,383,874 rows, and wp_posts has 1,000,000 rows.
