• Hi there,

I have your Search & Filter plugin working a on a clients site where there is no actual blog as such, the search & filter is working on custom post types rather than normal blog posts. The client now also wants a normal blog as well as having a page where the search and filter works on the custom post stypes only. No search and filter needed on the main blog posts.

Is this possible? In a test copy of the site I created a new ‘Blog’ page and swapped the WP Reading Settings so that the posts page is the new Blog page but the search and filter functionality just swapped over to this new Blog page rather than staying on the page it was on before.

It’s been a couple of years since I set up the website and I’ve looked through the documentation so apologies for bothering you if I’ve missed / forgotten something obvious!

    Many thanks in advance ??

    Hmmmm I’m a little confused.

Are you saying you would like 2 separate search forms on your site? This should be possible,

I’m not sure what the swapping page thing is to be honest, can you explain a little more?

    Thanks

Hi there, no – as I said previously ‘No search and filter needed on the main blog posts.’ – apologies if I wasn’t clear – the search and filter needs to work on the custom post types on page and there also needs to be a normal blog page (excluding the custom post types) where the is NOT any search and filter functionality.

In the wordpress settings Reading settings page there is the option to chose a static page for your home page and another page for your blog posts. This is what I was referring to.

Hope that helps explain further – please let me know if you need any further information.

    Many thanks.

Hi there, could you get back to me on this please – I need to update a clients live website shortly and need your clarification on this.

    Many thanks.

    Hi there

Yeah with S&F Pro you can create separate search pages with their own configuration/settings (different post types, incl/excl categories and taxonomies etc).

Then you can use a shortcode to define exactly which pages it appears on or use a template from you theme.

Here is a link to the docs about displaying your results and different options:

    Thanks
