    Hi there,
first of all thanks for providing such a useful plugin as it is in my experience the best one for ratings on WordPress (at least so far :).

Since I updated Yasr (currently 2.2.8) I received a bunch of errors in the search console.

The issue is the plugin started adding structured data on all pages or posts even though the Auto Insert is deactivated. So even if a page is not using the shortcode, it will be defined as a product (with tons of missing values obviously).

I could theoretically change the type into “BlogPosting”, only to get rid of the error in the search console but this would be quite pointless as many of those pages are basically not blogposts (nor any of the other possible options).

Hello motoriousmo, thank you for using YASR.

You’re right, I will add a check in the next version (will be release soon), and will return the schema only if a yasr shortcode is present in the post or page.

In the meantime, if you don’t want to wait next version, you can get this file https://gist.github.com/Dudo1985/57e3ac81763cb1488caca50f8bab0abc and upload it with ftp in /wp-content/plugins/yet-another-stars-rating/lib and overwriting the old one.

    Best,
    Dario

Hi Dario, thanks for the quick reply. Exchanging the file worked!

@dudo I would like to get clarification regarding this:

“….will return the schema only if a yasr shortcode is present in the post or page.”

Because it says “only if yasr shortcode is present” —> does it mean that auto-insert is now useless and we have to start adding shorcodes to every page to make sure that we will get star ratings?

And do we have to now add the shortcode to all old pages that were done with auto-insert to make sure that we won’t lose the star ratings?

    Thanks!

Auto insert includes shortcodes, so schema is generated

    Ok, thanks for clarifying.
