Scrolling text widget in sidebar browser compatibility problems

  • I have a scrolling text widget in my sidebar that works great in IE (8.0.6001.18702) and Chrome (14.0.835.186 m) but unfortunately does not scroll in Firefox (3.6.23).

    To make the text widget I added a widget as normal to the sidebar from Appearance>Widgets, and added this code:

    <marquee direction=”Up” scrollamount=”2″>

    Then put my content in, then added this code:

    </marquee>

    Now I have only started website design a month ago having had no experience in html or anything like it before, so please be gentle ??

    Not sure if this will help much, and apologies to those who consider this a bump, but I just checked and it works fine in Opera too. Also I read somewhere that I may be better off using a Javascript marquee if I’d like it to be cross browser compatible… obviously I have no idea how to do that yet, but anyway.. is that anything to do with my problem?

    Earlier in sidebar where i have added current openings job list were scrolling up. But i am unable to make it now. Please guide me how to get it done and where in need to change codes. Also let me know the codes to be added.

    Wellfound – I was wrestling with a similar problem and saw that there was no widget available that met my needs. I followed up the accusatory ‘bump’ inference. That lead me back to the excellent https://www.dynamicdrive.com – (loads of really good stuff here).

    I helped myself to a text ‘fade in and fade out’ javascript code snippet – they do various text scrollers, too. That may well help you.

    I have used the standard WordPress text widget. Just dragged it over to the side bad and added the necessary javascript code. I have used this as a text scroller that fades in and out at:

    N.B. I am NOT a CODER, but even I can understand it!

    You can have clickable hyperlinks – email addresses will work.
    N.B. In this example I set the border width to 0px so just the text appears.
