I’m using WooCommerce and your plugin and they don’t seem to be playing nicely as of the last WooCommerce update. On mobile in Safari, scrolling on the product pages is very choppy and often sticks for a very long time. Product pages also take a very long time to load. In chrome on mobile, they sometimes crash the browser. When I disable your plugin these problems go away. It seems to be some kind of loading problem.

Any advice? I was hoping your update today would contain a fix but unfortunately it’s still happening. I currently have your plugin disabled on production but you can check out the issue on staging here: https://hennacolorlab.staging.wpengine.com/shop/wine-red-henna-hair-dye/

Unfortunately, I will not be able to provide any fix. Making a website Retina is pretty straightforward, there is no trick. Often, a lot of things can be made to enhance it (or just make it work) on the theme side. They control which image appear where and how.

The retina images are twice bigger so depending on how many there are and what the website do with them it might impact the performance. Special effects (transparency for example) are also very costy.

I checked you website without Retina on my computer and it’s sluggish already.

Would you mind telling the guys at WooCommerce your issue? If I can do something I would do it, but unfortunately I doubt. You can bring the guys of WooCommerce on this thread too, maybe they will want to work on it together.

Thanks Jordy. If you checked the link I provided, it is sluggish because it is a staging site and has no caching and is on a shared server. Our production site is much faster.

I had a ticket open with WooCommerce but closed it because I thought the problem was this plugin. I can open another and point them in this direction. Do you have an email address I could use just in case, instead of cluttering up this space? You can send it to mandi(at)hennacolorlab.com. Thanks!

Actually I found it sluggish when I scrolled up and down, I was not talking about the loading time. Caching will not help ??

My email is apps(at)meow.fr. But it’s usually better to use this thread to talk about the issue so that anybody can join or find it.
