I am testing Popup Maker to see if it will resolve some mobile responsive issues I’m having with another plug. I use popups to deliver additional content when the user clicks on Read more or a button and some of that content exceeds the size of the screen. I need to limit the popup size to say 90% of the screen and provide scroll bars when the content exceeds the popup size. I can find no way to enable scroll bars? I do not want to scroll the underlying page.

There’s two ways to use scrollbars in Popup Maker:

#1 – Let Popup Maker do it automatically. When the content of the popup is taller than the screen, thus making the popup taller than the screen, we add a scrollbar to the overlay of the popup which replaces the page scrollbar. This gives you the ability to scroll the entire popup as if it is a normal page.

This works by default as long as you don’t have the “Fixed Popup” feature or the “Scrollable Popups” feature enabled.

#2 – Use the “Scrollable Popups” feature found in the Display Settings Pane. What this does is embed a scrollbar inside the popup itself. Without a cool scrollbar plugin like I used here, then this method is not recommended, although you can have as much content as you like stuffed into a static height popup (which is great in some situations) – as long as you have a solution for the ugly scrollbars. If you don’t mind them, that’s cool too.

You can combine this with the “Fixed Popup” feature found in the Display Settings Pane so that the page won’t scroll, but the content within the popup will with the embedded scrollbar.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you for the reply. This is my test page:

The content is taller than the page. The desired behavior is to limit the height of the popup to 80% of the page height and embed scroll bars within the popup to navigate content without moving the underlying page. I believe this is your #2. I’ll worry about the look of the scrollbars later.

Since I can not find “Scrollable Popups” in the Display Settings Pane, I assume you are referring to Responsive Sizes. My settings are:

    Responsive Sizes = Large – 80%
    Min Width = 300px
    Fixed Positioning is checked

This appears to be as you described yet the popup extends well below the bottom of the screen with no scrollbars.

@taastrategies – Scrollable content only shows up when you set the size to custom and define a height, either px or %.

Thank you for the response. That behaves as desired on my Windows laptop in Chrome; however not so on IE 11 or Edge or on Android tablet and smartphone where the popup extends below the bottom of the screen and lacks a scrollbar.

The support here is much more responsive here than with the other plugin (no support; however I’ve managed to resolve the issues with the other plugin across all platforms on my own. Unfortunately, I need exit intent technology which will require an upgrade. I’m happy to support developers who provide good support on free versions, no so with developers who don’t.

Thank you. I’m marking the ticket closed.
