scroll arrows not showing on nextgen galleries

    Some time ago, I wrote to this forum for help with my Nextgen galleries which suddenly stopped scrolling, all of them: there are no arrows for scrolling anymore.
    A number of suggestions were made, but none of these worked. One suggestion not tried was deactivating, uninstalling, and reinstalling Nextgen. However, I have now plucked up the courage to do this and the gallery still has no arrows.
    Some help would be much appreciated.

    Hi @moyup,

    I am sorry in case that we have already suggested that but can you please let us know if you have checked within “NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Lightbox Effects” to ensure that you have selected a lightbox effect for “What lightbox would you like to use?”?

    No lightbox settings are enabled: also tried custom without any arrows appearing.
    Have also changed the theme from a custom theme to Astra – still no arrows.
    Two days ago I had a local WordPress expert look at the problem and he suggested I contact you.
    Really like the plugin but I may have to use another gallery if this one cannot be made to work.

    In desperation, I just tried the “fancy box” lightbox effect and the scroll arrows have returned.
