Script Inserted meta “noindex” tag in my pages. Site traffic plummeted!
-
I installed this plugin on May 2019. Some days later I get a Google Search Console alert that my site has indexing issues. I didn’t take the warning seriously.
Its only after my site traffic plummeted down to nearly 90% that i started investigating the issue. The main issue is that Google was telling my site source code had the meta tag “noindex” inserted into it. What!!?
This was weired coz who would want their site not to be indexed? I would never do this deliberately. My site lost income because of this loss of traffic.
I search Google and notice my site pages are missing from its index..Poof! Completely gone!!
At a loss of how this could be possible I reached out to the Google forums and asked for help from the experts. Its then that they told me that at the footer of my site there was some messed up Google Ads remarketing code that was inserting the “noindex” meta tag!!
I logged in to the site and disable many of the plugins and started activating them one by one..it was then that i noticed that the WooCommerce Google Ads Dynamic Remarketing plugin was the one doing this..
I promptly disable it and submitted my site for reindexing into Google.
Because of this i pray my site rankings will not be affected going ahead. This plugin really messed up my site traffic and income.
