• Okay I’m running Genesis and a child theme. I had default search bar as far as I could tell, so I made the searchform.php file, which did nothing because I realized I had to input the get_search_form command. I can’t remember which site but I thought it said to put it in the functions.php file, and I did…for the Genesis theme. MY MISTAKE… Now I can’t even access my dashboard and when I tried to go back and delete the code and resave, it didn’t register. How do I fix this? Is this something I would have to contact Bluehost about? It’s not the hosting problem, it’s a coding problem so how do I go about fixing it?

  • You can remove your buggy theme from cpanel, WordPress will switch to use the working default theme.
To do that, open cpanel -> file manager -> public_html -> wp-content -> themes. Then, delete that genesis child theme.

THank you for your reply. However, Genesis is the framework “parent” theme and is needed because it’s used as a base. The child theme is what makes it look “pretty.” I deleted neither of the themes and just used a FTP client to edit the file with the help of Bluehost live chat (which is where my wordpress is hosted).
