• Hello. So this last update really screwed up my site. First the “add from server” was giving me all crazy file names. So I reverted it to version 3.3.3… Since then the plugin has gone into my htaccess files and now my membership site is now accessible when it shouldn’t be, and my server is telling me to hire a developer! Talk about seriously screwing my site up! I don’t know what has happened. I was told the new version should fix my issue but NOPE… It doesn’t so now I have a messed up site that I have to have in maintenance mode so that all my work isn’t just freely accessible and I do not have the money to put for a developer to try and fix my site. This is so not cool AT ALL…

  • I’m not the developer but how has the plug-in “gone into my .htaccess files”. I checked on mine and it has not touched my .htaccess file (unless I’m doing something different). A quick scan of the plug-in code and I can’t see any reference to .htaccess.

    Without compromising your security (by publicly publishing info best not published), what changes were made to your .htaccess files that caused the issue? (i.e. just the lines added or changed or removed provided they don’t give out info you should keep private).

    Well “thankfully” my server has AMAZING people that work there and they worked through the issue instead of me being left in limbo waiting to hear from “anybody” from the plugin to help me… My server was able to figure out what happened and the plug-in has been disabled from my site. Now I’m just wondering how to transfer my files “without” using this plugin that COMPLETELY screwed up my site!
    Here is a “little” bit of comment from my server JIC someone is actually reading this and actually wants to fix the plugin before anyone else ends up in the situation that I just went through… Note that, the reason for the Critical Errors on your website was actually a part of the coding of the “Add from Server” Plugin, therefore, we needed to completely disable it.

    “If you wish to continue using it, it would be best to address this case with the vendors of that Plugin, as the following PHP Function was failing:

    namespace dd32\WordPress\AddFromServer;

    I’m not the developer (but am a s/w dev) and I suspect the plug-in developer will need something more than “a part of the coding of the [plug-in]”. After a quick scan I can’t see how “the plugin has gone into my htaccess files” so dev might need to know if it was an issue with htaccess or quite what somebody has identified – most developers would need more detail than “a part of the coding of the [plug-in]”

    Well since I am not the developer and my server people were nice enough to figure out what was going on, and I was nice enough to throw out “some” information about what happened, I would hope that the information would be appreciated and maybe the developer would know what was going wrong or maybe other people had the same issue. So thanks for the reply’s…

    Hi @missnavigator05,

    Sorry to hear about your site, however I can’t begin to understand how the plugin could’ve caused the problem you’ve experienced. I’m glad that your host has been able to get you back up and running, but they’ve given no details as to what the problem was.

    Without further details from yourself or them, there’s not a lot I can really do to help you though.
    As it was a long weekend here for me (Fri-Sun) I wasn’t checking for replies.

    You can send me an email with details if you’d like me to look into it and don’t want to publish the details here: https://dd32.id.au/contact-me/
