Screen reader response text

I have used the [response] tags within my form to add a response message to the very top and very bottom of my contact form.

However for iphone7 users they are seeing a third response area. I believe it is this div;
.screen-reader-response.

In my child theme css I have this set to display:none and on my devices I am not seeing it. Has anyone else seen this behaviour on apple devices – any ideas how to remove it?
