    Hi Marcus,
as Google, Yahoo and Bing found a convergence with schema.org, seems an easy prediction that in 2013 we’re going to see a quick adoption rise for web 3.0 semantic web technologies pushed forward from a discrete SEO reward.

As Events Manager is the “serious” plugin for the event/place ontology in wordpress it seems natural to me that it should adopt and conform it’s WP custom post types and relative metaboxes translating from the schema.org data type and properties in backend fields and microdata HTML outputs.

I’d like to know if you thought about this and have early plans to implement schema.org in some way.

  • Hi,

maybe @marcus has a better idea about this.

to be honest, it’s something I’ve wanted to do since 2011, but alas, so many features, so little time!

that said, good to know they’ve all converged so hopefully something we can add this year. when exactly is the golden question….

What’s the status of this currently?

unfortunately we haven’ tmanaged to get to this yet. however, we have studied the possibility and concluded that this is already possible by changing your formats in your settings page.

we intend on revamping the default formats that ship with EM to include more information in a consistent style, at which point we’ll also be looking into adding schema.org in the format too.

Wouldn’t actually have to be that hard. Via an add_theme_support( 'schema' ); call you could implement something like this.

Thanks for sharing your trick @defries, however it would be great to have this option nativelly, somewhere in the future…

    nice, didn’t know that existed!

I’ll take a closer look at that, although I was hoping to avoid adding meta tags to everything and use inline tags in a format fashion. will take that into consideration though.
