Has anyone else had the problem of scheduled posts not publishing? I get a “missed schedule” error and have to go back in and move the post to drafts and then manually publish it.

Is this caused by a conflict with one of my plugins or is this a bug?

  • 1000s get this problem. This is due to wrong configuration of the PHP.ini file of the server. This happens due to the action of WP cron can not get executed. wp-cron does the scheduled works.

My guess you do not have root access to your server, they will not do anything PHP.ini on your request. It is neither a bug nor a conflict, it is the problem of lack of knowledge of UNIX by your webhost. Solution is dependent on which webhost you are and what their server side config is.
There are quick fixes through php, but they can open a new problem to get hacked / get ddos attack.

Best safe and easy solution is to add a cron job for wp-cron.php manually from control panel (cPanel / Plesk etc.)

This is a really timely post. Thank you. I will try the manual cron job option. Be back to let you know how I get on with it.

I found a plugin called WP Missed Schedule that fixed this issue for me.

great. I’ve just found and installed it. Will see in the morning if it workes. Although I do think I should have a word with aruba.it, the ISP, about their server config for these cron jobs.

To be honest, I don’t think it’s a server configuration issue.

I have 6 WP sites on the same server, and out of them, only one site won’t correctly post scheduled posts; the others work fine.

If it really was a Unix configuration issue, I’d expect that it would happen to all the sites.

I’m really hitting a wall as to why this is happening, and it only started on this one site when I moved it to this new server recently.

@mhmcintyre : Please mark it as solved, if you have not done already.
