Scheduling change to homepage removes live homepage and gives 404

  • I have scheduled a change to my homepage successfully, however having scheduled the change notice that my live homepage gives a 404 error. I was expecting it to show the old homepage until the scheduled change takes place.

  • There is a not a lot of information given here, however what I suspect is happening is that the Homepage dropdown in your Settings does not update properly.

    See under:

    Settings –> Reading –> Your Homepage displays:

    This setting will not get updated properly if you have changed the Homepage from one page / URL to a different page / URL.

    You should be updating the live homepage while Saving to Draft, then schedule that page to be published. The the homepage Settings will remain valid.
