    Hey,

Using wordpress 4.9.10, with the latest version of revision manager. We are admins on the site so no approval process needed. However, when scheduling an old post that has been revised and setting it to publish in the future, once it publishes the post isn’t moving to the front of the archive/updating as a newly publish post.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the help.
    Dave

    Hi Dave!
    Przemek here,

WordPress in 4.9.10 is very old version ;), but let us understand better the process:

    ( 1 ) You are both admins
( 2 ) You are creating a new revision draft
( 3 ) You are setting post status to “future”
( 4 ) You are setting post status to “publish”?
( 5 ) Your posts are not merging? Not visible on the front?

Are you using Guttenberg or Classic editor?

Przemek, Thanks for the quick reply. See my answers below:

    ( 1 ) You are both admins
    This is correct.

( 2 ) You are creating a new revision draft
    This is correct.

( 3 ) You are setting post status to “future”
This is correct, instead of immediate post we are schedule for the future.

( 4 ) You are setting post status to “publish”?
Under the post, once the post is scheduled for a future date we click schedule.

( 5 ) Your posts are not merging? Not visible on the front?
The posts merge and shows the update version. However, it is not showing up as a newly updated post within wordpress (e.g. moving to the front of the archive, showing on the homepage, etc).

Are you using Guttenberg or Classic editor?
Since we are still on WP 4.9 and not 5.0 we do not have Guttenburg or the block editor. So we are using the classic editor.

    Thanks for your help,
    Dave

    Hi Dave!
    Przemek here!

You’re welcome! Thanks for clarifying the problem. We have checked this and it, and it looks like it is not a plugin bug ;), but a designed action.

This is protection in a situation where a person (site owner) who has many old posts, would like to ask someone to just to make some small updates / correct some mistakes and don’t wont to change post date.

However, we think that this is a good opportunity to add such a feature in Revision Manager TMC, where you can specify whether merged posts are to have a new date or keep the old one.

    Will you like this solution?

We could throw this feature into the next update. The update would be on Friday (this week) or Monday (next week). Will it be ok?

    Hi Dave!
    Przemek here!

As we promised, we just made a plugin update. We’ve added a new feature. Please go to the plugin setting page and find “Merging” section. There you can manage the date option after merging the post.

Please write if it works for you?

    Have a great day!
