• Hey everyone,

I recently scheduled a post to be launched for New Years and I come back this morning and see that not only was the post not published, but it has also completely disappeared from my wordpress dashboard.

Do you guys know what happened and if there is any way that I can retrieve the post?

    Thanks in Advance

  • Hey Deon, I was wondering whether you can share which version of WordPress you are using and advise us of any plugins that you are using with WordPress.

    I am using version 4.1

I have over 50 plugins, but the main ones are
    – Adminer
    – Backup wordpress
    – members
    – super cache

There seems to be a problem with some WordPress installations not being able to initiate a cron job, cron jobs are what WordPress uses to publish a scheduled post. WordPress seems to offer a solution to this problem via Alternative Cron which you can read about here. Some have also been able to fix their issues by installing this plugin. Its not officially supported but it may still be able to fix your issue.

Thanks, I will check out your resources.

But is it possible to recover the lost post?

You mentioned that you have the Backup WordPress plugin installed. Can you try downloading the backup that plugin makes and restoring your WordPress installation to that backup? I am recommending this on the assumption that you have not made significant changes to your site since the backup, if you have, don’t use the backup.

I will probably just re-write the post, it wasn’t that long.
I don’t want to risk causing further damage.

    Thanks for your feedback

No problem, so was either the plugin or Alternative Cron able to help you with your problem, or have you yet to try any of the solutions?

The first method seems too complicated, I would have to work up the courage to try it.

But the plugin seems to have worked perfectly
