• Jeremy/Rachel,

I have an update for your team on issue #2813604 that I have through email.

I placed my posting today scheduled for 1:50pm actually instead of 2pm like I originally said I was going to do.

    1. I made sure I was logged out everywhere from my site.
    2. At 1:51pm I went on a Chrome incognito window and went to my site. It still showed my posting from yesterday.
    3. I refreshed the screen in the incognito mode… no changes.
    4. I went through multiple browsers in incognito mode and kept hitting my page with still nothing other than yesterday’s posting.
    5. I then decided to wait and come back to my computer for a quick bit. When I came back, I noticed the blog and all the publicize had posted correctly around 2:08pm.
    6. That’s a difference of about 16 minutes or so from the time I first went to my page to trigger the scheduled posting.

Two days ago (the 5th), I was able to trigger my posting just fine with the only problem then being in the scheduling with noticing the publicize part went out seperate from when my blog actually posted the blog itself, usually by a 12 to 15 minutes difference.

So overall, I’m noticing delays in the time I go to my site to see either the blog post itself or the publicize part go out.

    My site is https://www.thetwelfthstep.com.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

I see you’ve sent that same message to Rachel via email. Since you’ve been working on that problem with her there, I’ll let her take a look and reply to you.

Jeremey, can you let her know I’ve put this in here as I think it might be good to follow this here so others can get benefit too in case they are having the issue right? Just curious though, do you have any ideas behind what may be causing this weird issue?

I can’t say since I don’t have as many details as Rachel does, but I’m sure she’ll be able to help you out!

The problem is most likely specific to your setup, so it might not be useful to others in this case, unless they’re using the same hosting provider, and the same site configuration.

So today I scheduled my blog for 3:30pm. I made sure I had the Jetpack 4.3.1 update that you just put out today installed. Everything posted correctly, BUT, it all posted at 3:45pm. Again, there was a delay about 15 minutes from the time my scheduled posting was scheduled for it to go out. So no matter whether I trigger the posting by going to my blog’s site or by waiting for Jetpack Monitor, I notice it’s about a 15 minute delay. I truly don’t remember this ever happening prior to WordPress 4.6 and Jetpack 4.2’s combination. Does Rachel see these postings on the forum as well?

No. It’s best if you reply to her directly.

Andrew asked me to post a brief recap of what we discovered in his case if it helps anyone else.

The 12-15 minute difference appears to be due to, potentially, caching and cron jobs on his site. The delay is likely due to his site’s cron job not being fired because a cached version of his site is being returned at times (instead of triggering the built-in WordPress cron) and a result of his particular hosting setup.

I just wanted to chide in as well as a follow up. I have been watching my scheduled blog postings over the past week or so. They always do get posted, and the publicize does work, save the occasional issue with Facebook that sometimes happens. But regardless, my posts go out anywhere between 1 to 20 minutes later. From what I”m gathering, I believe there is caching on GoDaddy who hosts my Managed WordPress account. With caching, the window that pops up is one that’s been existing unit the caching refreshes and when it does that seems to be when my blog is triggered. Today it was only 4 minutes past the scheduled time. Sometimes though it’s 20 minutes past. Others it’s been 12 to 15 minutes. Nevertheless, it’s a limitation of GoDaddy I guess. I’m not sure why they cache, I’m guessing because it’s a shared server and easier to handle all the people on it. Regardless, things so far seem to be working just fine. I’m just going to accept the delay. And as mentioned, occasionally like today, I do have a Facebook issue where the post doesn’t get over successfully. But usually that clears itself up the next day. ??

I’m having a similar issue and the posts don’t go live until I go in and manually publish – most I’ve waited is 24 hours to see if it will post by itself. GoDaddy flushed the cache and did some update on their end but it did nothing to help me. I’ve had this issue for over a week now. I also use Jetpack. Please tell me I’m not going to have to go in and manually post every day.

I just wanted to make an update here since the latest version of jetpack was released. I still am having the same SCHEDULED blog issue. The blog posts on my site, but the publicize does not go out to my subscribers nor the social media I use. I have to still manually publish to get it all to work. I was told by the Happiness Engineers through email that they hoped it was resolved in the new version, but alas it isn’t. ?? So the issue still stands with whatever is going on between GoDaddy and Jetpack. I spoke for over 3 hours to GoDaddy today who still maintains that their cron system is fine and that the issue is not on their end. I must say I really am frustrated because I have such a simple site and run very few plugins and up until Jetpack 4.3.1 and WordPress 4.6.1 I never had ANY issues, not even with scheduled blogs. At this point, I don’t know what to do. What’s more frustrating is that I have a bunch of questions that end up taking a considerable amount of time for response through email, usually several days, and ultimately I would like to give you guys a backup copy or SSH access to figure this out, but I have questions surrounding doing that. I just don’t want to keep waiting days to see a response. I wish you guys had paid access so that I could talk to someone and resolve these things far easier. Nevertheless, I’m rambling, and just looking for a little more direction on how to see this scheduled blog things finally get resolved. ??
