• Dear experts,

I’m currently testing XCloner and so far the features offered for free are quite impressive!
Anyhow, I’m facing an issue with scheduled backups that do not send the backup to a remote storage.

I have connected a WebDav storage. If I send an existing backup (from the “Manage Backups”-menu) to my remote storage it just works fine.
If I use the “Generate Backups”-menu and go through it step by step it sends the backup perfectly to the remote storage.

But for scheduled backups, where “Send To Remote Storage” is set, the backup is executed (I can see it in the local storage) but not sent to the remote storage.
What I could find in the log-files is this:

    [2021-08-09 13:33:26] xcloner_remote_storage.INFO: Creating the WEBDAV remote storage connection [""] []
    [2021-08-09 13:33:26] xcloner_remote_storage.INFO: Creating the WEBDAV remote storage connection [""] []

Doesn’t look like an error message (though it also does not look like a success message).

Is there any advice where to look?

    BR Christian

    Hello,

Have you checked and made sure you use our latest XCloner version?

Also have you tried to check if you have any server error recorded when that happens?

    Hi jimiero,

    thank you for your answer!
Yes, I’m using the latest XCloner version (4.2.163).

Regarding the server error log I found something:
    10.08.2021 01:02:59 cortlieb.de [client 2a01:238:200::] End of script output before headers: wp-cron.php
Then something that says ModSecurity: Warning.. The actual entry has of course more information, but I’m not sure if it is safe to post it here publicly.
It think these entries do not match the time of the scheduled backups, but if you feel they might be important I could send them to you directly.

    Thank you

In between I tested also on another website at a different hoster. Here the transfer to a remote storage works fine with scheduled backups.
Hence, there must be an issue between XCloner and the setup of the 1st website I tried.
What puzzles me is that each step works separately. The scheduled backup is executed, there is a local backup file.
If I send the backup manually (“Manage Backups –> Send Backup To Remote Storage) it ends up in the remote storage without issue.
Only in combination it doesn’t work.

Since I want to recommend (and pre-install) XCloner to my clients I need to be sure that it works without issues.

    Hello,

Can you check with your hosting company, it may be some of those mod_security blocking some XCloner request, better show them those logs from mod_security

    Regards
