Hi all, call me paranoid but last night i discovered a few websites that can scan your WordPress site and tell you not only what version of WP your running but what theme and what plugins you have installed. Is there anyway of stopping a site from handing over that information?? The plugins part being something that really bothers me.

Currently, we have a feature to hide the WordPress version number, but not the versions of other plugins or the theme. Some scans also look at public files built into WordPress to determine the most likely version, so those may still find the WP version even if the version number doesn’t appear anywhere on the site.

Also, unfortunately, hiding some plugins could stop them from working properly since they may include styles/scripts that have to appear in the site’s HTML, and the theme generally includes a stylesheet which reveals the name of the theme directory.

Matt Thank you for your reply, It is greatly appreciated! We have a customer who is very concerned about keeping the “secrets” of their site a secret. I guess that is not possible.
