Scan won't complete –> Stored Data not found after a fork

    Hello,

    I am using wordfence for like one year now. Yesterday wordfence was acting strange and kept saying “Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean”. I researched the problem on google and this forum but all the solutions didn’t work. I increased some numbers but no result.

    Maybe you know some other solution.

  • Been having the same problem here…
    Removed, reinstalled, changed settings as info provided my Plugin Author and still the same. Read a lot of threads, but could not find a solution yet.

    Please help.

    PROBLEM STARTED ON: [Jul 03 03:48:28]

    “Wordfence Live Activity: Scan terminated with error: There was an error connecting to the the Wordfence scanning servers: error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxx/wp-includes/certificates/ca-bundle.crt CApath: none”

    Today: [Jul 05 20:18:10] – Problem still remains.

    @andie. That’s really not the same problem at all. You need to run the connectivity tester, disable ssl verification (near bottom of options page), then open your own post so we can track the issue.

    @joeyvanr Can you click the link to view the database tables (options page, near bottom) and look for any that seem to need repair? Also, if you have it selected, try unchecking ‘Scan files outside your WordPress installation”

    thankyou first for the reaction. I tried what you said I already unchecked the option ‘Scan files outside your WordPress installation’. I also viewed the database tables and verything was grey. I added the code below but so far I can see everything is allright.

    There is more but everything it the same as far as I can see.

    I have the same problem and there are several threads here, but I cannot find an answer.
    After starting a scan I see:
    [Mar 30 13:24:29] Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean
    I have reduced the “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 15 seconds, then to 12 seconds but it does not help.
    When I view my configuration the term “max_execution_time” does not exist on the page, so no clues there.

    The rest of the programme seems to function OK. I have this on 3 websites, they all stopped working for scans on the same day (March 17th).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

    Could you go to the Wordfence options page and check the option “Disable config caching” and see if that helps?

    Thank you for that suggestion. I have just tried that and the next scans failed in the same way, I’m afraid.

    Alright it’s odd that you are getting this on several sites. Do they have something in common? Do they have the same server configuration and database setup for example? I know that the issue relates to temporary data saved during the scans and database settings.

    They are all hosted with the same company. I have contacted them about this issue and they are prepared to cooperate with any suggestions from Wordfence that may resolve the issue.

    That’s great. If possible you could ask them if anything changed on the servers on March 17 (server configs, php, mysql version etc.). Seems that would be the quickest way to find in what direction we should be looking.

    You could experiment with excluding things from the scan (Options/Scans to include). If that works, it’s probably a memory related issue.

    Try unchecking the option to “Scan files outside your WordPress installation” and see if that helps.

    I have just done a successful scan after unticking the “Scan for signatures of known malicious files” option.
    I would have thought that is a pretty important one to keep, though.

    “Scan files outside your WP installation” was already unticked, WFSupport.

    Just unticking “Scan for signatures of known malicious files” worked on other websites too. I wonder why this is.

    I don’t have an answer as to exactly why this is happening in your case but we have a bug fix open on related situations (reference number FB1039). I can’t tell you when it will be released but I’ll try to remember to check back with you when it is.
