Is anyone else having this problem: Scan terminated with error: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [0] and the curl error number was [7] and the error from CURL was: couldn’t connect to host? This is a consistent problem for me. Wordfence keeps saying “We’ve corrected something” and then it happens again. It also neglects to notify when the scan fails. God forbid, that was the scan that really had something bad to report. I can’t get an explanation or anything of substance from them, I’ve asked repeatedly if they could incorporate some type of notification and have failed to receive an answer on that. Does anyone have any idea on what the cause of this is?

    Thank you

  • There could be many causes – the *most* likely is your web host configuration, but it could be any number of other things.

Who are you using for your web host? You might try contacting them and find out why you can’t connect to the wordfence.com server on port 443.

It may help if you post the exact text of the error messages.

    Hi,

The exact text of the error message is in the first line of what I posted, Scan terminated with error: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [0] and the curl error number was [7] and the error from CURL was: couldn’t connect to host.

    Hi All,

We see this quite often and it indicates that our web server can’t connect to noc1.wordfence.com on port 80 or 443. This may be because your web server has a DNS configuration problem or it could be because you have a firewall between you and our scanning server. It will also prevent you from connecting to other servers on the Net from your web server.

It may also be because you’re running a development server and aren’t connected to the Net.

    Regards,

    Mark.
