Suddenly the Wordfence scan doesn’t work correctly. It starts and then stops almost immediately.

Error message: Scan Failed. The scan has failed to start. This is often because the site either cannot make outbound requests or is blocked from connecting to itself. Click here for steps you can try.

Hi @rmiller3000, thanks for letting me know about the steps you’ve already looked into.

It’d be good if I could also see the scan failure happening, so please:

    • Stop the existing scan if it is still running (The “Start New Scan” button turns into a “Stop” button while the scan is running).
    • Go to the Tools > Diagnostics page.
    • In the “Debugging Options” section, if “Start scan remotely” is checked, uncheck this option.
    • Click to “Save Changes”.
    • Start a new scan on the Scan page.
    • If the scan fails again, copy the last 20 lines or so from the Log (click the “Show Log” link) once the scan finishes and paste them in your next reply.

I think it’s best to also send a copy of your diagnostics to us at wftest @ wordfence . com directly using the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

I’ll take a look into the connectivity problems to hopefully find a possible cause.
