    Why are all my scans on the wordfence plugin stopping after a few seconds, on our site crefovi.fr?

    I get the message: scan stage failed.

    The scan failed to start.

    What is going on please?

    Hi @agauberti, sorry to see you’re having this problem.

    Can you please try the following to get me some more information about the scan itself?:

    • Stop the existing scan if it is still running (The “Start New Scan” button turns into a “Stop” button while the scan is running).
    • Go to your Wordfence > Scan > Manage Scan and locate the “Performance Options” section. Set “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 20.
    • Click to “Save Changes”.
    • Go to the Tools > Diagnostics page.
    • In the “Debugging Options” section check the circle “Enable debugging mode”.
    • If “Start scan remotely” is checked, uncheck this option.
    • Click to “Save Changes”.
    • Start a new scan on the Scan page.
    • If the scan fails again, copy the last 20 lines or so from the Log (click the “Show Log” link) once the scan finishes and paste them in the post.

    On some sites, this will correct the issue. Adding “20” for the “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” tells the scan to pause every 20 seconds and start again where it left off, which makes the scan more performance-friendly for some servers. If this fixes the issue and scans run again, you can leave all the settings above except for “Enable Debugging Mode”.

    I have implemented all the steps above.

    HOwever, the scan stage failed again.

    As suggested, please find the Show Log below.


    Would you please diagnose what the heck is going on with Wordfence on crefovi.fr?

    What is the solution to ensure that crefovi.fr is scanned by wordfence please?

    It looks like something on your server is blocking our scan server IPs. Please go to whatever firewall that is installed on the server (not in WordPress) and ensure that our IP address are added to any allow lists they have and are not currently blocked. Our IPs can be found here:

    This issue has been going once since 3 months’ ago, and frankly, you have done [ redacted, use your words next time ] to resolve it appropriately.

    There are NO FIREWALLS OK?

    crefovi.fr is set up EXACTLY in the same way that crefovi.com is set up. HOwver, Wordfence can scan crefovi.com but Wordfence cannot scan crefovi.fr.

    SO WHAT IS GOING ON, HERE?

    Would you please analyse this log, in a thorough, useful and professional manner and tell me why the heck your wordfence scan does NOT work on crefovi.fr, by return of message?
