    The Scan does not start. This is the error:

    Scan Stage Failed
    A scan stage has failed to start. This is often because the site either cannot make outbound requests or is blocked from connecting to itself. Wordfence will make up to 2 attempts to resume each failed scan stage. This scan may recover if one of these attempts is successful.     I tried the suggestions on the page, but that doesn’t help.

    I searched the forum, enabled debugging and these are the last 20 lines of the log:

    Can you see what is the problem or point me in the right direction to solve this?

    Hi @rfmcomposer, thanks for your detailed message and scan log.

    As it looks like “Scan process ended after forking” is the repeat problem, I assume you took a look into that troubleshooting heading on the page you mention so have ruled out Memcache or something blocking access to /wp-admin?

    Generally, your server’s max_execution_time looks good, but it could be worth changing Wordfence > Scan > Manage Scan > Performance Options > Maximum execution time for each scan stage to an even lower number like 10 as a test. 

    Can I just confirm if you’ve already tried Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Debugging > Start All Scans Remotely and Wordfence > All Options > Advanced Scan Options > Use only IPv4 to start scans too?

    If not, return to your scan page after changing these and CANCEL the current scan and then start a NEW scan.

    Failing all of the above, please send a diagnostic to wftest @ wordfence . com directly from the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page, that may help. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for your quick reply!

    I also sent a message to the hosting provider. It turns out they are blocking the Wordfence scans. This is their response:

    It is indeed true that we block scans from Wordfence. They ask too much of our servers. We make a scan ourselves every day and take action if necessary.

    Too bad to my opinion, but nothing I can do for now I am afraid…

    We will often work with hosts to ensure any perceived issues such as this can be investigated further in case there are problems on certain setups, or with certain resource allocations.
