• Even though the scan is setup to use low resources it is linked directly with wordfence.

    from the log:
[Feb 23 05:15:42] Analyzed 12743 files containing 803.94 MB of data.
    [Feb 23 05:15:42] ——————-
[Feb 23 05:15:42] Wordfence used 26.02 MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 34.02 MB
    [Feb 23 05:15:42] Scan Complete. Scanned 12743 files, 31 plugins, 2 themes, 0 posts, 0 comments and 0 URLs in 25 minutes 38 seconds.

2 minutes later an email from the hosting site
at 5:17 “Your hosting account is reaching or exceeding its resource limits.”

This is not a coincidence. I have posted before but it is a hard one to find, I guess. The log sais one thing on what it is using, the reality is different.
The Scan is using a lot of Memory or CPU power.

The settings in Wordfence are turned down to its minimum as far as I can tell.
    I have a Custom Scan:
    – General Options: only Scan plugin files against repository versions for changes
    – Performance Options: Use low resource scanning (checked)
How much memory : 50 –> changed it now to 25

It’s probably maxing out your CPU which is often the bottle neck on servers. What hosting are you using? If it’s a low end shared hosting then it may be time to upgrade. You could also try excluding certain files from the scan. For example do you need to scan all your png and jpg in your uploads folder images every time, excluding them could remove a few thousand files from the scan.
