• Hi,

    I have been experiencing consistent scan errors since my WordPress site was migrated from an Australian based server to a US based server via my hosting company. I contacted them about the issue and they replied saying they have increased the max_execution_time to infinity.

    The previous scan error read: “Scan Failed: The previous scan has terminated because the time limit of 3 hours was reached. This limit can be customized on the options page.” We adjusted the “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 15 as suggested in a Wordfence YouTube video and we believe that error may have resolved for now.

    However, a new scan error has emerged which reads: “Scan failed: Wordfence file scanner detected a possible infinite loop.” I need help in fixing this issue and I have sent an error report to Wordfence via the Diagnostics > Tools area with this username: ‘barryseal.’

    Thank you for helping me fix this issue as it has been persistent for some weeks now.

    Barry

    Hi @barryseal, thanks for getting in touch.

    We have seen issues where max_execution_time being set higher than 60 causes scan problems, so even though I don’t recommend it being infinite, it sounds like there was a problem before this was changed anyway.

    Migrations can sometimes cause issues with optimization, but I think sending us a diagnostic through the Wordfence > Tools menu is the best action to take so we can look at your other settings on the new server. You can send that to us at wftest @ wordfence . com. Click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi @wfpeter,

    A courtesy follow up on my previous message to see if you’ve had a chance to analyse the report I sent from my WordPress site, as per our previous messaging? The scan issue in Wordfence is still occuring.

    Thank you,

    @barryseal
