    Since the upgrade to Version 7.0, I am having failed scans. As far as I can tell, it was working properly prior to the upgrade (I received no notices to indicate otherwise).

    The error message is:

    Scan Failed
    The current scan looks like it has failed. Its last status update was __ mins ago. You may continue to wait in case it resumes or stop and restart the scan. Some sites may need adjustments to run scans reliably. Click here for steps you can try.

    I tried adding define('WORDFENCE_SCAN_FAILURE_THRESHOLD', 1800);

    For one site, that seemed to work, but the other two still fail (they are larger sites).

  • I get the same issue with Scan Type: High Sensitivity, standard works but does not find the malware I know exists on the site. Tried your setting but still same issue.

    Hi @lyeffeth
    Please kill any running scan at the moment, then make sure you have “Enable debugging mode” option checked under (Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Debugging Options), and start a new scan.

    When it hangs, please send me the scan activity log by clicking on this link as in this screenshot, you can send the log to “alaa [at] wordfence [dot] com”, I’ll take a look at this log and let you know my findings.

    Thanks.

    It has been sent. Thank you.

    Hi Laura,
    Please exclude this directory /wp-content/cache/*in “Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns” under (Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling > Advanced Scan Options). Also, try activating “Low Resource” scan in (Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling > Performance Options > Use low resource scanning) then run a new scan.

    Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

    I made those changes but the scan still failed. I sent you the log.

    Thanks!

    I noticed after I emailed you the log, that it still contained some cache files. I had copied your pattern directly. I removed the initial forward slash and tried again. The scan still failed, but it got much farther along. I send you that log as well.

    Thanks again,
    Laura

    Hi Wfalaa,

    I had the same problem of scan failed.

    I had:
    –Enabled debugging mode
    –Excluded this directory /wp-content/cache/*
    –Activated “Low Resource”
    But the scan was still failed.

    Sent you the log. Please help.

    Thanks

    Hi @lyeffeth
    Sorry for my late reply, could you please send me a diagnostic report as well? this can be done from (Wordfence > Tools => Diagnostics) and click on “Send Report by Email” button at the top of the page. Also sending another recent scan activity log would be appreciated.

    @ahwen1212 I would appreciate if you can open a new support thread regarding your question, this will make it easier for us to follow up with your problem and resolve it.

    Thanks.

    I sent both the diagnostics report and another recent scan activity log. Thanks.

    Hi Laura,
    Please try increasing the memory limit in wp-config.php file following this guide to something like 256M, then run a new scan and let me know how it goes.

    You might also try deactivating other installed plugins and recheck this issue.

    Thanks.

    Thread Starter Laura Yeffeth

    (@lyeffeth)

    I added the following:
    define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ );
    define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ );

    but I got the same error.

    I can’t deactivate any plugins (at least right now) as this is a live client site. If you have any hints as to which plugin might be causing the problem, I can set up an off-hour time to do some testing but I rather not disable critical plugins.

    Hi Laura,
    You can install “Health Check” plugin that will allow you to enable “Troubleshooting mode” so that you disable plugins for your current logged in session only, it will not affect any one else visiting your website.

    Thanks.

    Hi and thanks for the tip. The last time I checked the scan worked. I am not sure what fixed it, perhaps a WordFence upgrade, but I am marking this solved.
