First, the plugin is developed in a confusing manner. You have to have a license for the free version, in order to use the “Import from Computer” option. They don’t tell you this, have a welcome screen to tell you this, or even a notification telling you of this. You literally have to navigate to the settings page to find this out, when you expect it to work out of the box. So, if you go to a post without looking at the settings page, you immediately think the plugin is a scam and won’t work without a premium license. The other two options, once the free license is enabled “Import from Computer” works, are “Import from Google Drive” and “Import from Dropbox”, which are premium options.

Second, even with the free version, I was unable to import a .docx document. I clicked to import it, and it gave me an error that said, “upload only word document”. Uhhh…that’s what I did! And it was a very plain Word document at that. Only one heading, and then plain paragraphs without block quotes, bullet points, ordered lists, etc. Don’t believe me? I’ve included screenshots:

    1. I have the plugin installed.
    2. I click “Computer” to import from my computer and select my basic test.docx document.
    3. Then I upload it and it returns an error message.

Third, it appears that you are limited to 8 Word document imports, if you can actually get it to import correctly.

    Here’s the screenshot of that.

So, in conclusion, I’d steer far away from this plugin.

    Hi Tyler,

Thanks for the detailed feedback about our plugin. Appreciate it.

I understand your concern and we’re working on making it more apparent for the users to learn that you need to do a FREE registration to use this lite version. And also improve the UI, so that people don’t have to navigate a lot to find our plugin widget. We’ll push an update with the above as soon as possible.

As for you not being to import the document, could you please email the document you’re trying to import? Also, what version of MS Word are you using? It seems versions older than 2007 have some issues importing it. Having said that, it is supposed to work with all .docx files.

Also, we allow only 8 documents to be imported because there is some load on our server that we have to bear for each document imported, hence the limit in the free version. And it is mentioned in our plugin description.

    Thanks!

    Hey Syed,

I’m always up for changing my review if other developers make good changes! Once the update comes out, I’ll check it out and update my review accordingly! Have a great day man!

Also, the file I couldn’t get uploaded is a test.docx file for testing between Office applications. You can download it here: https://www.wup.pl/images/uploads/pliki_przykladowe/test.docx

    Hey Syed,

I don’t like leaving negative reviews for good developers, so I’d like to change it to a higher rating if the fixes have been implemented. Any news on when those will be out?

    Hey Tyler,

I just used the plugin and it worked well for me.. the developer might have already made the changes you requested so I would suggest giving it another go.

I initially was hesitant to try it out because their ratings were so low but desperate times called for desperate measures – and I’m sure glad I did. Ended up buying the Premium version as I had over 60+ word docs that needed to get imported.

Hopefully for them the ratings will improve and more users will be happy to give it a try.

    Cheers,
    Kristy
