    so if I want to scale the image, what option do I choose? Thumbnail?

    Scale the image means reducing the mb or just reducing the size?

    You only have the dimension option when scaling an image. The other options doesn’t have any affect.

    Scaling means changing the dimension of the image and, therefore, the filesize changes accordingly.

    The problem is that when I try to “add an image”, it gives a HTTP error so I have to upload the image through “upload image” and I don’t believe I scale down an image from there.

    Sorry, I don’t quite follow. There are two ways to add images to the Media Library, Add an Image in post editor or Add New in Media Library, and both provide the scaling functionality.

    Note that WordPress keeps the original and create a new file when an image is scaled, therefore, images added to posts prior scaling will still link to the original. You’ll need to reinsert them.

    I tried to upload my picture both in post editor and in Media Library as well as in Firefox and in IE and I always get a HTTP error as well as this message on IE:

    “Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 67371008) (tried to allocate 14520 bytes) in /home….on line 253

    Add define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M'); to your wp-config.php.

    I did that and I still get the same error message.

    Then try define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

    BTW, what are the size of the images you’re trying to upload? It’s best to resize them to the desirable size on your computer first.

    I scaled down the picture down and now it works but it looks like wordpress doesn’t allow big pictures to be scaled down.
